Maybelline has come up with another range addition to their lipstick ranges. They already have Maybelline ColorShow Matte Lipsticks, Maybelline Superstay 14 Hour Matte lipsticks, Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipsticks and Maybelline Creamy Matte lipsticks. This time when they say “Powder Matte”, this means this is the ultimate matte formula by Maybelline. Because powder matte means a dry matte or a 100% matte finish.

I love the shades in this range however I did feel like this has a lot of cool toned shades. Some lighter shades like “Make me blush” “Technically Pink” and “Pink Shot” may wash out medium to deeper complexions.
Pigmentation ★★★★✭
Again Pigmentation wise we wouldn’t give these lipsticks a 10/10 because they are not as pigmented in a single swipe. Of course one can build up the pigmentation by 2-3 swipes. However still, we felt like ladies with pigmented lips won’t be very satisfied. Because it does not cover up the pigmentation that well. Unless one is ready to go over and over with multiple swipes.
Finish and Stay Power ★★★★☆
This is the most Matte lipstick released by Maybelline. Although personally I would say that the finish is comfortable matte. It wouldn’t give you the feeling like using Kylie’s Matte Liquid Lipsticks or Jeffree Star’s Matte Liquid Lipsticks but it does the best it can. Staying power is somewhere around 6 hours which is good enough at this price. When it fades away, it leaves a beautiful even stain on the lips which further lasts for a couple of hours. Also, with oily meals, the stay power is further reduced.
Oh, and then I have to say Maybelline has priced these lipsticks at a humble 500/- which very much suits the quality of these lipsticks.
Overall Thoughts ★★★✭☆
So overall we feel that this is a great launch by Maybelline in general. However we did pick up a few places where these lipsticks need improvement for eg. the pigmentation. But in general looking at how humbly these lipsticks are priced, the Maybelline Powder Matte lipsticks are still worth purchasing for everyday wear. In fact on an everyday basis for office goers, this is the best kind of matte as it does not dry out the lips. At the end, we wish to convey this message to all the makeup brands that please publish an ingredient list for all the makeup products that you launch. We tried to look for an ingredient list for these lipsticks but we couldn’t find any. The ingredients are neither mentioned on the packaging, nor on their website. 🙁
Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick Individual Shade Description
- Make Me Blush – A neutral warm coral shade.
- Technically Pink – A cool toned light candy floss pink.
- Orange Shot – Warm orange shade, lovely for ladies who wear orange lipsticks.
- Plum Perfection – Plum perfection is a plum with more a more red feeling to it. Its not as deep as regular plum shade lipsticks. Very wearable plum is what we would call it as.
- Fuchsia Flash – A beautiful barbie pink shade. This shade will suit a variety of skin tones whether light or deep.
- Pink Shot – Again a bright cool toned light pink lipstick. It has slightly more blue undertones as compared to “Technically pink”
- Cherry Chic – Is a very pretty strawberry or cherry red shade. Very wearable by all skin tones.
- Get Red-dy – Hello to signature red of Powder Mattes! Its a scarlet red shade with slight warm undertones to it. Again all skin tones can pull off this shade with grace very well.
- Up to Date – This shade is a very creamy mid pink shade. I would say this is neither too bright nor too dull. Its a gorgeous shade but ladies with deeper skin tones will find it difficult to pull it off.
